Marc Pergament began his legal career in 1981 as a trial attorney in the Antitrust Division of the United States Department of Justice. He oversees the strategy and development of all commercial and bankruptcy litigation handled by the firm. He regularly appears in State and Federal courts, litigating a range of commercial matters, including contract disputes, commercial fraud matters, estate matters, and bankruptcy and insolvency issues. Mr. Pergament also serves as General Counsel to several of the Firm's clients.
In the area of bankruptcy and insolvency, Mr. Pergament handles all legal aspects of business reorganization and has successfully reorganized middle sized companies in Chapter 11 proceedings. Since 1990, Mr. Pergament has served as Trustee in Bankruptcy for the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of New York.
Mr. Pergament is a member of the National Association of Bankruptcy Trustees. He regularly serves as a guest lecturer for the Nassau County Bar Association and Suffolk County Bar Association, as well as for New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants, speaking on topics related to bankruptcy and creditor's rights.
Mr. Pergament is admitted to practice in New York (1981), the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, the United States Tax Court, and the Second Circuit of the United States Court of Appeals. He is a member of the Nassau County Bar Association, Suffolk County Bar Association and American Bar Association, and serves on the Nassau County Bar Association Grievance Committee. Mr. Pergament received his Juris Doctorate degree from Rutgers University School of Law in 1980.
